Random Comments - Chuck

Not so long ago, my roommate Jess introduced us to Chuck. Shortly after that the first season of Chuck was on sale at Borders and I bought it. Originally I bought it to give to Jess for her birthday, since she raved about the show so much...and it will still probably end up at a present of some kind, however before that we had to watch the whole thing and now we are addicted to Chuck. I haven't had many shows that I've looked forward to watching every week. So here's to Chuck the geeky almost spy we've grown to know and love...

She's Almost Done!!!

So my roommie Melanie is enrolled in a masters program in Military history from Norwich University and she's almost done. She turned in her last paper and portfolio on Saturday night, now all she has to do (I say all as if it's a small thing, but I guess in comparison to everything else she had to do, this isn't much) is finish her thesis! She's so cool!

Now you see, Mel is doing her thesis on intelligence in the battle of Midway and likes to tell me about her research and share little tidbits of information. I credit my random dream of being a member of a crew trying to save a sinking ship while being under attacked to her involuntary information sharing.

Join me in giving a shout out to Melanie Grant and all her coolness in surviving a master's program!

Congratulations Mel!

Labor Day without Labor

Labor day came and we found ourselves wanting to do something completely unrelated to laboring...so we decided to go to Great Falls Park.

WOW it's beautiful!

My little sister Sarah was out visiting for a few days and came with us wandering around.

High water marks...

Yeah...notice it has gone higher then me and I'm almost 6' tall and that means it has to come over the about 12-20' cliff first and then rise another 6 -12'

Can we say scary? I wouldn't want to be there when a flash flood comes along...

Swirly holes in the rock. And use in the Swirly hole....

So according to the sign these little swirly holes are created when there's flooding and vertexes form due to the rushing water...hmm crazy! The mighty power of water is a little scary. I have a lot of respect for water.

Rock climbing. Mel is part billygoat. But I must say, when you see an opening like that who wouldn't want to climb up there and check it out?

Did you know that there are shells at Great Falls park? Tons of them...

There was a little sign that explain why there were shells, but honestly I don't remember. I guess I'll have to get back to you on that one, but now you know that there are tons of shells in Great Falls park and you can spend hours contemplating why.

Overall it was a beautiful day. I would love to go back sometime soon to see the park with the changing leaves.

Ward Campout - Take Two

Alrighty! It's the time of year again...actually it's a month ealier. They moved the ward campout up a month in hope that we weren't freeze as much. It worked...at least for me. It wasn't nearly as cold this year as last. I ended up kicking some of my blankets off.

It went over really well and in basically the same fashion as it did last year...

Mel even brought her homework again and wasn't the only one...the other guilty party was Darin Poulson. He's also working on his masters.

One major difference was the 'rave' we had during the bomfire. It consisted of Reed, Brian, Darin, Sundee and her roommate Kate, Annie, Mel and me twirling glowsticks on a string and making random noise and sing random song, including, but not limited to the Chicken Dance song from Arrested Development. Good times had by all...

My Brother's Getting MARRIED!

So my brother David has finally decided to tie the knot. I'm so excited for him. My brother's an amazing person and I figured that someday a nice girl would notice that too and they would live happily ever after. I don't know Melissa (David's fiancee) but my sister Becky likes her and so I give her a stamp of approval based on Becky's recommendation and I'm sure I'll get to know her better through wedding plans and such.

If you want to know the story behind the story here you can get it from the source at David and Melissa's wedding blogspot

1812 Army Band Concert

Mel, Reed and I went up to DC for the Army Band 1812 Concert. The venue was perfect and the atomephear was fun. We took some random pictures before the concert started.

Some pictures of Reed and Mel

Some of me and Reed pretending to sleep

The Moon

The cannon 'shoters'

We will have to wait for the best of all. Mel took a video of the 1812 Overture, however it's too long to upload to blogger, believe me I tried...waiting almost 3 hours for it to upload. So I'll have to figure out how to edit it and then we'll try again later.

Great Times!

America Idol Concert

So I've never really been one of those people who watch all of the American Idol shows and get excited about what's going on and into arguments with people about who should win and such, however I do enjoy good music.

That said on August 14th my coworkers and I went to the American Idol concert for our funday activity. I was excited, but not overly so, which is to say I was a lot calmer then my coworkers. However I did have a great time and enjoyed most of the songs.
SYESHA

JASON...one of my coworkers is a great fan of Jason and managed to find someone with an extra seat on the floor who let her sit with them while he performed...I bet her pictures are better.

DAVID ARCHULETA... as stated before I didn't watch the whole American Idol season, so I don't know ins and outs of everyone's votes, but after the concert if I had been asked to vote between David Cook and David Archuleta I totally would have voted for David Archuleta. I liked his stage presence more as well as the songs he sang. The doesn't mean that I didn't like David Cook, I just like Archuleta better.
